I have become such a lazy hermit recently. I have really neglected this blog... but I guess at least I can say that I am fully up to date on all my favourite TV shows :/
Anyway over the Easter break I finished one of my Uni projects; Futuristic Fable. Yess slightly similar to my UFO college project, but sorry, not sorry, I just love me some aliens.
Here are some snaps of my final piece...
Took me about a week to hand embroider the dress, which I am most proud of :) Could quite get into this embroidery obsession, might go and join a sewing circle or something...
This week I visited Paris for 3 days with Uni. It was a highly amusing and interesting trip, including a lot of walking and over-use of the fish eye camera app on my phone. As i'm sure many of you have been to Paris, i'm not going to bore your socks off with a lot of tedious information about the place, however I will let my photos tell the story.
Arrival day
Walking from Musée des Arts Décoratifs to the Eiffel Tower, via one of the lock bridges...
Day 2
Walking from the Notre Dame to the Arc de Triomphe, via lots of boutique/designer/vintage shops, the Palais Royale and the Champ-Élysées...
Our hotel was based in Pigalle, on a road full of ummm..."interesting" shops and cinemas. A bit of a questionable area, but we were only five minutes from the Moulin Rouge, which reassured us that the area was not as "back alley" as we originally thought.
Day 3
Not such a busy day, as we planned to go up the Eiffel Tower, but it was too foggy and rainy. We chose to mooch around the Louvre area and then walk to Gallerie Lafayette, which is a department store with an incredible glass ceiling...
The main part of the department store. Photographed by my friend Amy...
In the evening we planned to go out clubbing as a large group, however a few malfunctions along the way and my friend Laura and I ended up in Paris Social Club alone. Nouveau Yorican were dj-ing there: a duo comprising of Gina Turner and Laidback Luke. The music was incredible and I even bagged myself a conversation with old Luke himself.
We were totally standing opposite them in this video!
Leaving Day
Before jumping on the EuroStar I had a wander around Pigalle and I came across this at the end of the road we were staying on.
I must say it was an awesome trip and despite the slightly dodgy areas and pick-pockets, I am slightly in love with Paris now. I even tried my dab-hand at speaking to some locals in French. I may have accidentally told a woman I loved her and that she was dead; all in the same sentence, but I am inspired to eventually be fluent in French someday.
Hello, Happy 2013!! A bit late yeah, sorry! I was back in Cornwall over Christmas! We moved into our new house on Christmas eve so it was a bit crazy... and I was without Internet for the whole 3 weeks!! Ohhh my 3G bill is gonna be bad :/
I was up to my old shoe making tricks again, for my film accessory project at Uni (The one I based on Spirited Away)!
Here are the photos from the final photo shoot.
Thank you to Amy for modelling. And to Stephen....(you know what you did) :D xxx
Things are getting pretty exciting this year: An upcoming internship, Ski trip, Paris trip and a possible (DJ related) part time job ;)
Also, the tattoo attempts that Laura and I both did a few months ago didn't turn out as well as planned.
On Wednesday we went to get them covered over...
I decided to get an extra couple of symbols to make the pain more worth while :)

What i'm listening to...
Hmmm on the album this song is called Estocada...
Only realised the other day that if you press alt j on your laptop it makes a traingle :3 ∆∆∆∆∆∆∆∆
I am now into my 3rd week....wait..no 4TH :OOO week of University :O
Apart from having flu/tonsillitis and then an allergic reaction to antibiotics, I have literally LOVED every minute of Uni life so far :) All my flat friends are lovely and the tutors are really friendly and inspiring (that makes a nice change) :D
The first couple weeks of lectures were a bit of a slog, just because of the fact that I completely could not focus on work, with freshers going on etc.... but now I have got into my first project properly I am quite excited for it all :P
Today was the best day so far! We were in the knitwear department on the knitting machines, making samples for our technical files...
My attempt...
(I was trying to make a cheeky scarf but my machine broke so I had to stop half way and start a different piece)...
Our project is called "Opposites Attract", so I have been creating some mood boards of opposites that could influence me... Our final choice has to be two opposites that compliment each other...
Rich
Poor
Embellished
Minimal
Along with the project and the knitwear lectures, we have also had fashion/paper styling and art/drawing lessons and visual communication lectures. Here are a few photos from these...
Painting and Drawing...

Fashion Styling...
I must say, we had an interesting array of clothes (and blankets) to work with! It was fun...
Hehe I dressed Millie up :3...
She really loved me dressing her up like this, especially as I made her stand on a chair without being able to see :P Oh no health and safety...
In sewing class I tried to create a bodice/top by draping, pinning, tacking and then overlocking fabric...
It would have gone well had I not sewn it inside out :P Oooops!
Along side Uni work, my friend Laura and I have been going to several societies as we share the same interests! In the second week of Uni we went to Astronomy society to chill with all the very clever Astro students! I bet they loved us fashion lot asking them very blonde questions :3
Laura and I also joined the Wessex scene magazine, which is the Southampton Uni magazine, so we should hopefully be helping with layout and imagery on the next issue.
On Saturday we took a trip to Surge Radio which is the Southampton Uni radio station. The guys from the DJ society were doing a two hour show and offered to show us the ropes, so that in a couple months maybe we could DJ on the radio...

... and finally yesterday one of the guys from the DJ Society invited us round to give us a lesson on mixing on Vinyl decks :D All very exciting!!! And definitely something I would like to pursue further as I really enjoyed it!
Last Tuesday evening we also went a bit cray cray and decided to do D.I.Y. Tattoos with needles and India ink :O Ok it probably wasn't one of my best decisions, but hopefully when it has healed it should look quite nice and I feel it is more meaningful doing it myself :P (Cheaper too :D)
Mine is the little heart <3
With all this musical DJ-ness going on I have been on the look out for new music! Furiously creating new playlists, swapping music and downloading thingssss...
Last week I downloaded the album DJ-Kicks by Digitalism, which is a mix of songs by Digitalism and other similar artists! It's not really new or recent but seriously if you have £7 spare DOWNLOAD IT!!!! It is most definitely one of/THE best albums I have heard in a while!
My faves from the album...
This video is SO cute :3...
Heha going to see Digitalism at the end of the month in London :3
